Marketing for Writers, Artists, and Other Creative Freelancers
You’re a creative. Your top priority is getting your art out there, and getting paid. You don’t have time to promote yourself… but you have to. No one is going to do it for you. You don’t know where to start. That’s why I’ve created a road map for you.
Create a Home Base
Your website should be your home base — where your social media and traditional media point back to. Think of it as a wheel, with your website as the central hub; all of the spokes are your Twitter, Facebook, business card, etc. You always want to be sending people to your home base.
Rock Search Engines
Search engines like Google allow people who don’t already know about you to find your website. You know how when you meet someone at the airport, you might create a big sign saying “Here I am”? You want your website to have a similar sign so that people can find you.
Build Your Platform
Whether you paint, juggle water balloons filled with napalm*, or write, you need an audience. Your audience will cheer you on and, if you juggle napalm well, buy your products.
