I bet you didn't know I had such a hardon for Squall and Irvine

Friday morning I have to go to court. Sorry, I didn’t rob a bank or murder anyone or anything exciting like that. Basically, I was too drunk to drive, let Mike drive, and he made a U-turn at the beginning of a highway on-ramp. No one was coming, but the state cop that was hiding decided to give him a ticket. So we’re going to try to either get it cut in half or thrown out completely, because he only missed the turn by like ten feet and we would have been fine if the cop hadn’t decided to make a fuss out of it — a $127 fuss.

So, court.

After that, though, I have a meeting with myself. I’m blocking out time to take a nap (since I have to be up super early to go with Mike), and to finish my first Tent City series story (and maybe write the second draft of another story). I haven’t done any writing in so long. I have a story that’s half finished that I meant to finish a month or so ago so I could send it to a contest. Ha! And of course, let’s not forget the novel…

In the months ahead, I’m going to have even less free time, though I’m not complaining; my aunt and I have seven new website jobs, a few new social media jobs, and a few new print jobs. Can you say, “busy”? I’m bracing myself for seventy-hour work weeks.

So Friday is a writing day. Tonight my youngest first cousin — my dad’s sister’s son — is coming to visit. This is a huge deal because his dad and my aunt are divorced, and because of a very long story, Vin hasn’t been allowed to visit for a long time. He’s coming to see Popi and the rest of us tonight, though, which makes me so happy because I know it means the world to my grandfather. After tonight’s visit, I have to do some SEO for my and my aunt’s business website and do one quick thing for a client.

Then I foresee the New Super Mario Bros for the DS in my future. That game is so fun! I’m horribly addicted to that, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and Bejeweled Twist. I also have to pick up the LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 game for the DS, since that’s apparently out now and I completely forgot that I had pre-ordered it.

I also restarted Final Fantasy VIII the other night. I have a game saved on disc three, but wanted to restart just for the nostalgia of it all. I saved right after talking to Quistis about her not being an instructor anymore. I love that everyone in that game has the hots for Squall: Quistis, Seifer (heh), and Rinoa. There are so many good pairings in that game… I haven’t been into slash or fan fiction in a long time, but FF8 really wakes up the yaoi in me.

Apparently SquareEnix polled readers asking whether they would like to have a remake of Final Fantasy VII done and if they’d like a remake of FF8. I’m hoping they leave FF7 alone. I love the original game, and the CGI movie was okay, but enough is enough. Let’s update FF8 and put Squall, Seifer, and Irvine in some even sexier pixels. *swoon*

So anyway, back to LEGO Harry Potter… I get paid on Friday, so guess what I’ll be picking up Friday? I’ll just have to make myself do some writing before I allow myself to play…

What video games do you love?

Games, games, games

Having a boyfriend who works in the video game section of Toys R Us makes temptation really easy to give into. When I worked at Toys R Us, I didn’t have a DS. We bought ours not too long after the holidays, and each bought the new Zelda game — Zelda: Spirit Tracks — to start with. I also bought a Crash Bandicoot game, which did not live up to my expectations; the original PlayStation games are so much better.

A few months ago I bought Sims 2: Apartment Pets, and I’ve been playing that mostly since I hardly have time for video games and it’s something I can play for a few minutes and then put down. I really miss Zelda, though.

One time while I was visiting Mike at work, I saw a pre-order card for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, which is coming out for all current systems. I’d been pining after it since, but mostly put it out of my mind because, hello, I barely have time for the games I do have. That is, until last night.

I spent most of the day working at Barnes and Noble, since I didn’t have internet where I’m staying and needed to start working on a very big website (which I will tell you all about as soon as it’s finished). I went to go see Mike on his break and when we walked back inside the store, he showed me that the pre-order for LEGO Harry Potter now comes with these really cool Gryffindor and Hufflepuff Lego keychains. Since the pre-order was only $5, I figured, “Why the hell not?” Mike said that when you pick up your game, you get the Slytherin and Ravenclaw keychains.

I payed for the pre-order and browsed through some other things while Mike talked to coworkers and customers. Suddenly, a DS game on the $19.99 rack I thought I had already thoroughly looked at caught my eye. I picked it up and pretty much squee-ed with excitement. I wouldn’t have to play stupid minute-long trials on Facebook anymore; I could get my very own Bejeweled game for my DS and take it with me everywhere!

I knew I shouldn’t necessarily spend the $20, since I want to save as much as I can for Florida, but Bejeweled and I have a special relationship that started when I first bought my laptop and got several digital tokens for the full-length game. I never ended up buying the full version, though, because I didn’t want to spend $20. (I’m well aware that this makes absolutely no sense. But at least now I can take it with me everywhere!)

I also ended up getting a Toy Story tote for $2. I have no idea what I’m going to use it for — maybe as a purse — but it was only $2 and it has Buzz, Woody, Rex, and one of the squishy claw machine aliens.

I guess I deserve a little spoiling though, you know? I have just about enough for our plane tickets, so I’ll just get them either when I get my next paycheck from my part-time job, or whenever my very quiet client finally sends us the bill they owe us. (And speaking of bills, I owe $100 to the surgical center I went to for my colonoscopy, and $20 to my general practitioner’s office. Sigh.)

So far, this weekend has been awesome! I tried a new razor and shaving cream, which I’m going to review for all of my ladies. It will be girls only and password protected, so just email me at elizawhat@gmail.com for the password.

How is your weekend going so far?

Anyone want some bad luck?

I’m on a bad luck streak. Ready? Set? Go!

Michael and I almost broke up this weekend. We got into several huge fights (which we’ve been doing a lot of lately), and I really thought it was over. Finally, his wit and good looks won me over again and I forgot why I was mad. I guess the old saying, “what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger,” is true. Every time we go through this we end up being closer and stronger. Not to say that I enjoy fighting with him. I’d rather play Street Fighter II and Castle Crashers together like we did last night.

Naturally, the video game spree didn’t last long. It feels like someone is grinding the bones in my hands together. I really wish this would just go away already. It seems to be getting worse, and it’s actually to the point where I’m so used to being in pain that for the most part it doesn’t even phase me anymore.

Things wouldn’t be so bad if I haven’t had my — sorry, guys — period for twelve days now. It was thirteen days late — yes, I keep religious track — and now that it finally came it won’t go away. I think it’s safe to say that I need to change my birth control. I’d apologize again, but it’s natural. Then again, natural for me is just four or five days, not two freaking weeks!

Of course, my phone had to crap out today. It’s been turning itself on over and over again lately — without turning itself off first, mind you — and I knew it was coming, but still. On top of everything else I have to buy a new phone now. It wouldn’t be such a big deal, since I didn’t always have a cell phone anyway, but I recently put my resume in with a freelancing firm and we’ve been playing phone tag. Now they have no way of getting in touch with me.

Speaking of web design, I still need to buy Adobe Creative Suite software so that I can work. And of course I need to finish fixing the Sunfire so I can get to work, and to get to the English class this summer that’s costing me over a thousand dollars.

So, obviously, you all need to send me checks with at least three digit amounts. It only makes sense. ;)

The good news is, I finally finished the redesign for the Letters of Love website. It still has a few bugs (especially in the Community), but it’s functional. So far it’s gotten a lot of praise, which makes me feel good despite everything that’s been going wrong lately. Go check it out and let me know what you think! And yes, this is shameless self-promotion. :D

PS: I haven’t cheated on quitting smoking in two weeks!
